  Joseph Long With all respect (yes you, Andy), it is a fair question  Despite the global presence and success of U2 (to a greater extent than their Athens counterparts), the artistic merit, critical reception, longevity, and actual musical legacy and impact of R.E.M. gives them, if nothing else, a seat at the table in a conversation about the two.
